These
classes are appropriate as an advanced seminar for doulas or a beginning
level seminar for aspiring midwives and birth assistants. Women who
are planning to become CNMs and want to develop a more holistic, non-interventive
approach to birth find this program both inspirational and educational
before entering a program which may stress a more medical model of care.
The
course follows guidelines set up by the MANA core competencies and the
North American Registry of Midwives. This is a nine day seminar which
meets every three to four weeks on a week-end day. Students are given
handouts and homework for each class. Students can receive a certificate
of completion if they complete a take home review exam.
